CyberGeek Academy is an accessible cybersecurity learning initiative by CyberGeek Podcast. We created it to help students, beginners, IT professionals and career switchers explore cybersecurity through clear, structured learning.
Our aim is to make foundational knowledge easier to access, with useful lessons and opportunities to test your understanding at your own pace.
Keep beginner courses free and develop affordable, practical pathways to advanced cybersecurity skills.
Grow a community-driven learning platform where curiosity becomes knowledge and knowledge develops into useful skills.
Structured courses, learning checkpoints, final assessments and course-completion certificates for eligible learners.
We're in public beta. Learners, educators and security professionals are invited to share feedback and help improve the Academy.
Learn responsibly: Practise security techniques only on systems you own or are authorized to test. Course-completion certificates are not professional accreditations.

Looking for the dedicated Linux, Networking and SOC environments? See the dedicated lab environments and their availability. Real command environments are still preparing for a secure beta launch; existing guided exercises below work now.
Explore guided security investigations, separate from the short interactive exercises inside Fundamentals.
Real Linux commands inside an isolated, resumable Linux container. Sign in to begin once the independent Lab Engine is securely deployed. The session is free during beta, and practical marks are formative only.
External lab service is not yet connected.
Challenge: change report.txt to mode 640 and create an evidence directory with mode 700. Your workspace persists between commands, but each submitted command starts a new shell.
Lab infrastructure must be provisioned and tested before activation. The existing in-course Linux simulator and standalone browser labs remain available.
Use real Linux commands to investigate fictional offline network traffic in traffic.csv. Write your evidence-based findings to answers.txt, then request formative grading. No real networks, scans or customer data.
After launch, the workspace suspends after 10 minutes without commands or grading. A warning appears with two minutes remaining; files remain saved. You may resume without an overall learning deadline.
Service is not yet connected.
This is a development preview until an independently secured Docker host and database migration are verified. Certificate eligibility is unchanged.
Investigate fictional authentication and email events in events.csv using real Linux commands. Write your evidence-based findings to answers.txt, then request formative grading. No real networks, scans or customer data.

Work through short interactive decision exercises directly inside selected lessons. Try CIA risk mapping, Zero Trust access decisions, network request tracing and incident response sequencing. Lesson 5 contains a graded Linux permissions sandbox with server-issued cases, and Lesson 7 includes a synthetic network evidence investigation. For independent, longer investigations, visit the separate Practical Labs section.
Review a checkpoint quiz after every three lessons. After completing the whole course, take a 20-question final exam. Log in to record completion.
